Since when does the training obligation actually apply?
Since February 2, 2025 (Art. 4 EU AI Act), companies have had to take measures that foster the AI literacy of their employees. In July 2026 the provision was recast by the Digital Omnibus: no specific level of competence has to be guaranteed, but the measures must match prior knowledge and context of use, and be evidenced if challenged. The frequently cited deadline of August 2, 2026 concerns the entry into force of the transparency and labelling obligations under Art. 50 EU AI Act. From this date, the market surveillance authorities begin enforcement. Your team therefore needs to know and implement both obligations.
Are there fines of 35 million euros if we do not train our staff?
No. That figure covers breaches of the prohibited AI practices under Art. 5 EU AI Act and cannot be transferred to the AI literacy obligation. There is no separate fine for Art. 4. Advertising a training certificate with that figure is an inadmissible shortcut. Art. 4 requires appropriate measures, matched to role, prior knowledge and the systems actually in use, and, in case of doubt, evidence that those measures existed. That evidence is exactly what the Team-Training-App delivers.
Can I just take the courses without buying the app?
Yes, you can also complete the courses directly on the Klivantis platform and receive your personal certificate as proof afterwards. This route is especially recommended for self-employed professionals, freelancers and small teams who want to meet the obligations under Art. 4 and Art. 50 EU AI Act.
Why can I not simply download the app?
There are two reasons for this. First, we don't want you to buy blind - we want you to know exactly what you're getting before you purchase. Second, your security matters more to us than generating revenue. For security reasons, every installation and every update is individually signed for your company, so you can be sure nothing has been tampered with by third parties. That's why the app is available exclusively through direct sales by Klivantis, including a personal consultation before purchase.
What does the Team-Training-App cost?
The price depends on plan, company size and feature scope - and remains affordable even for small and medium-sized businesses. Klivantis quotes concrete figures in the free consultation.
Can I run the app on my own server?
Yes - via purchase or subscription. Installation is deliberately simple: create a database, route the domain, click through the installation wizard. A white-label variant without Klivantis branding is available with the purchase plan.
Do I have to create course content myself?
No. You can create your own courses with text, images, video and audio - or buy and import ready-made Klivantis courses. Both can be combined freely, including trainings beyond AI.
The law changes - what happens to my courses?
You apply the correction as a course update instead of importing the course a second time. The app compares the new version against the existing course, shows you exactly what will change before anything is applied, and only carries it out once you confirm. Progress, ratings and certificates already issued are preserved. That is precisely what the mechanism was built for: when Art. 4 of the EU AI Act was revised in July 2026, every affected course version had to be brought up to date. For Klivantis courses you receive the update from us, your own courses you update yourself.
How tamper-proof are the certificates?
Every certificate is unique and carries a unique ID and a QR code that can be verified against the installation at any time. A subsequently modified or invented certificate is immediately exposed on verification.
Who has checked the legal content of the courses?
The courses with legal content are produced at Klivantis from the primary sources: the text of the regulation, the official publications on EUR-Lex and the questions and answers of the European Commission. Each of these courses states its legal status openly on the course card. There is currently no external sign-off by a lawyer, and we do not claim one. The courses convey legal knowledge for everyday work and do not replace legal advice in an individual case.
When were the courses last brought up to the current legal status?
All courses with legal content are on the legal status of August 2026, including the changes to the AI Regulation introduced by the Digital Omnibus (Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, in force since 27 July 2026). The date appears on the card of every affected course. If the legal situation changes, you receive the correction as a course update that preserves progress and certificates already issued.
What exactly does the certificate certify?
It certifies that a particular person completed a particular course at a particular time with a particular exam result, verifiable by QR code against your installation. That makes it the evidence of the training measure required by Art. 4 EU AI Act. It says nothing about your company's AI Act conformity as a whole, which also involves policy, system inventory, risk classification and transparency processes.

What happens to our installation if Klivantis ceases to operate?
With the purchase and with the subscription on your own server, the app runs without any connection to us. The licence key is bound to your domain and is checked purely locally, so the app also runs on an intranet and on isolated company servers. Courses, users, progress and certificates sit in your database, and the export tool supplied with the app hands them over in full at any time. Only future updates would be open.
